Staff and wire reports at the Standard Speaker report that Todd Eachus has been asked to testify before the Grand Jury probing the misuse of taxpayer monies to fund efforts toward election campaigns and pay workers on those campaigns. The media has dubbed the investigation by AG Tom Corbett as Bonusgate but he cautioned them about putting a label to it. The arrest of several Republicans dwelled on the misuse of money to pay for technology used in the campaign efforts. SOP sources in the AG office have confirmed that the investigation is far from over and neither Republicans nor Democrats are immune.
It has been reported on PennLive.com that Eachus tells colleagues he'll forge ahead without distraction by 'recent events'.
In the Standard Speaker article Eachus spokesman Brett Marcy had no comment when asked Thursday whether Eachus has been asked to testify. That is a curious statement given when asked back on July 7, 2009 by the Times Leader the reply was Brett Marcy said Eachus was not among the legislators who testified before the grand jury, nor was he interviewed by any law enforcement officials regarding the Bonusgate case." -- WB Times Leader 7/7/09 according to those great folks at CasablancaPA.com. When the answer is no there is an explanation. Take it from there.
Frank LaGrotta's blog reports that House Democratic staff members say both DeWeese and Eachus have appeared "visibly shaken" the past week.
Tom's making a list.
He's checking it twice.
Tom says DeWeese and Eachus were naughty, not nice.
Santa Claus is coming to a courtroom near you
Of course let's remind everyone that those charged are innocent until proven guilty.
