Spending In Pennsylvania Has Increased 40% In The Last Three Years!!!

On a campaign stop today Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Corbett highlighted one of the huge problems with Ed Rendell and the Democrats in control of the Pennsylvania purse strings- wasteful spending. The following excerpts come from pittsburghlive.com.

Corbett said the biggest obstacles facing better government in the state are out-of-control spending and public corruption.

In the past three years, state spending has increased more than 40 percent without any attempts by lawmakers to rein in or cut spending, he said.

"We're spending our money," he said, "but we're spending our children's money, we're spending our grandchildren's money, and in effect, I believe we're spending our great-grandchildren's money."

He said public approval for Rendell and the Legislature is at an "all-time low." Corbett's said his criticism covers both Democrat and Republican leaders.

Corbett said the state operates a fleet of 17,000 vehicles and has a support staff of more than 3,000. He said voters should watch the budget process to see whether lawmakers make any cuts. He said some high-level staffers earn more than Rendell.

"See if they reduce their staff," he said.

"I can do more as governor setting an example of how things should be done than investigating what needs to be done," he added.

Can Joe the Plumber claim his income went up 40% in the last three years? Todd Eachus can steer the ship but someone should clue in him that he ran out of gas.

Why haven't the power Democrats in Luzerne County denounced the crime spree exposed by the FBI? Why are they hiding? Why do they refuse to be leaders and face the music for their party? What steps are they taking to make sure integrity is restored among their candidates and elected officials? The lack of sound is almost deafening. Yet the morning local talk show host Kevin Lynn still bashes the Republicans. Clean your own house Kevin before complaining about the neighbors!

Obama and Healthcare- Can We Afford Him?

Don't let your guard down with the Obama administration. They will get you when you're not looking.

Roll the tape back to the last election and promises. Remember when Obama stated he was going to let the George Bush tax cuts expire. Here's an articlethat talked about his promise and actions that he was about to take.

The obvious conclusion would be that we were paying less under George Bush than we would be under Obama. Look at this chart about the Federal Budget from 2004-2009. The first line item is individual income taxes. There isn't one year where actual or expected receipts were anticipated to go down. Some tax break, Obama.

If you are a proponent of the single payer system look at the line item, Medicare. From 2004 to 2009 expenditures are anticipated to rise by an astounding 60%. You will hear how Medicare's adminstrative rate is around 3% when private plans average close to 30%. However, when you look at the increase in expenditures in the Medicare program, how can the government convince its citizens that their healthcare proposal will save money?

Obama- WE NEED CHANGE- Enter Arlen Specter

On the heals of my last post Rep. Joseph Sestak is making it known to ABC news that he is not happy with Arlen Specter jumping to the front of the food line.

"I really was taken [aback] by the Democratic political Washington establishment saying, here's your candidate, Pennsylvania," he added. "I thought, when I came here, and when President Obama came here, we weren't for an establishment -- we're for change."

Sestak, of course, was talking about his possibility to seek the Democratic nomination for Senate next year. Since it takes a pile of money to run any viable candidate would have to make a choice soon.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs on Tuesday reiterated the president's support for Specter, even if Sestak or others challenge him in a primary.

"I think the president was pretty clear on this. Senator Specter has his full support and he'll do what -- what's necessary to see him re-elected," Gibbs said.

Now there's a real bull crap statement. I keep telling people you can buy an Obama on QVC. Its a package that is readily available. He tells a good story but none of it is close to reality.

Take a look at this opinion piece in the Philadephia Inquirer. It is right on the money about Specter, George Bush, and the crap the Democrats have been pushing about the Republican party.

The GOP establishment didn't push Specter aside; the voters did. In the weeks leading up to Specter's defection, Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, the head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, heartily endorsed him. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's PAC gave $10,000 to Specter's campaign.

The "big tent" approach has not always served Republicans well. South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint's comment about preferring 30 senators who believe in conservative principles to 60 who don't has gotten a lot attention. Sophisticates chortle about his naiveté.

But how well have nontraditional Republicans worked out for the party lately? There have been some successes, such as Rudy Giuliani. But there have also been failures.

For instance, Tom McClintock had the audacity to challenge the "moderate" Arnold Schwarzenegger for California's governorship in 2003. McClintock was an actual conservative with 20 years of political experience. But the GOP establishment threw its full force behind Schwarzenegger for the same reasons it supported Specter.

And how has that worked out? The California Republican Party - not to mention the state itself - is in far worse shape than it was in 2003. Take that and apply it to George W. Bush. If, in 2004, Republicans had jumped off the bus and Bush had been defeated by John Kerry, do you think the GOP would be in worse shape today? Neither do I.

I am sick and tired of hearing Kevin and Nancy on WILK in the morning talk about the Republicans. How is Pennsylvania fairing out with Rendell as governor? Answer- $2.6 billion deficit on its way to $3 billion overnight. How did Luzerne County fair out under Democratic Judges and Commissioners? Answer- 2 down and one to go.

The Democrats are driving that holier than though message but there are people watching and waiting.

Kanjo- Earmarks Are Not His Specialty

In the election against Lou Barletta many people were touting the money Kanjo brought back to the district. You heard about it on the morning drive with Kevin and Nancy. You heard people call into Steve Corbett and praise Kanjo for his efforts.

Take an honest look at the earmarks Kanjo brought back to the area. His solo earmarks amount to a total of 5 for a paltry $2,955,000. Contrast that with John Murtha who had 67 solo earmarks for a total of $159,940,200. Arlen Specter had 131 solo earmarks for a total of $31,167,900. Chris Carney quadrupled Kanjo with 18 solo earmarks for a total of $8,818,600.

It's the perception folks, not the reality that evidently counted.
