A look on Recovery.gov, the U.S. government’s official website, that provides America and the world easy access to data related to Recovery Act spending provides some interesting information about the results for the 10th and 11th Congressional districts so far.
If you look at this chart you will see that the reported jobs for the 1st quarter of this year show that the 10th Congressional district rated 9th while the 11th Congressional district ranked 15th. So much for Paul Kanjorski's claims of seniority, not that either district did so well. 176 jobs vs 131 jobs doesn't sound like it commands a resounding applause.
When you compare what was spent to get those jobs as referenced in this chart you will see that the 11th Congressional district outspent the 10th Congressional district by $329 million to $296 million.
Basically $33 milllion more was spent to get 45 less jobs. Why isn't Paul Kanjorski razing cane about that fact? Is he too consumed patting himself on the back over financial reform that turned out to be a joke?
The real joke is on his constituents. In 2009 he proclaimed that the stimulus bill would create/save 7,700 jobs in his district.
The $787 billion economic stimulus package signed Tuesday by President Barack Obama will save or create 7,700 jobs in the 11th Congressional District, said U.S. Rep Paul Kanjorski, D-11.
Kanjorski voted for the final version of the bill last week after voting against an earlier House version. His district includes Monroe County and all or parts of Luzerne, Lackawanna, Carbon and Columbia counties.
"While the final recovery bill is not perfect, nor does it address all my concerns, I strongly believe we must take quick action to help Americans who are struggling and help spur job creation," Kanjorski said in a statement.
It's pure politics when Ed Mitchell and Paul Kanjorski want to talk about the fictitious unemployment figure for Hazleton against Lou Barletta. The official from the state who are in charge of those figures more than once stated they were misleading and should not be relied on from a statistical sense. Sholly said the figure is a little misleading: It should be no surprise that neither Mitchell nor Kanjorski would want to be honest about that fact.
What is fact is that unemployment continues to rise in Northeastern Pennsylvania despite the expenditure of over $600 million dollars? Kanjo, why don't you give Lou Barletta $600 million and see how many jobs would be created? What's that? You wouldn't give him a dime. He already knows that by your strangulation with the Eachus as your accomplice of the money flow to the City.

Democrat Brian Kelly Backs Lou Barletta In Congressional Race
Democrat Brian Kelly, a newcomer to politics, was defeated in his bid to win the Democratic nomination for U.S. Representative of the 11th Congressional district.
Actually Brian Kelly won his race in a different way. He had no money to speak of and didn't accept outside contributions. Despite accepting no outside contributions he garned 17 PERCENT of the Democratic vote. To those outside of politics that number is huge. It suprised the even most seasoned political observers. Kelly's showing mirrored the sentiment that sent Arlen Specter packing and out of Washington.
Mia Light of the Citizens Voice is reporting that Brian Kelly is throwing his support behind Lou Barletta for the fall matchup between Barletta and too longtime incumbent Paul Kanjorski.
"A Barletta victory in November is as close to a Kelly victory as we can get," Kelly said.
He said he would lend his support to the Republican because, "My father always said, 'Vote for the man' and Paul Kanjorski is not that man."
Barletta campaign spokesperson Vince Galko had this to say about Ed Mitchell's response to Kelly's announcement.
"Paul Kanjorski's campaign response is predictable. If you are not in bed with Wall Street bankers or if you haven't spent more than 20 years in Washington, you just don't matter to Paul Kanjorski," Galko said.
Kanjorski's campaign contributions detail a trail of allegiance to an industry despised by most in this country at the moment. Foreclosures continue and banks aren't lending money in any appreciable amount to help the economy rebound. Therefore jobs are still and will continue to be a problem for the forseeable future.
Kanjorski's failed ability with Sallie Mae and the loss of 2,500 jobs associated with his vote on healthcare reform only serve to compound the misery Americans experience.
According to Recovery.gov the stimulus package that Kanjorski supported only brought 2.64 jobs to the 18702 Wilkes Barre zipcode so far. If one types in Hanover Township's 18706 zipcode the amount of jobs created so far is only 8.11. HOever Sallie Mae in Hanover Township is giving up 100 jobs. Paul Kanjorski please explain your rationale?

The mainstream media is treating President Obama like the favored girl at a ball. Everyone wants a dance and they know holding his feet to the fire is not the way to get that dance.
Last night President Obama spoke to the Democrats in the House of Representatives, who are currently at an annual retreat in Williamsburg, Virginia. Here are parts of that speech that need scrutiny.
If we do not move swiftly to sign the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act into law, an economy that is in crisis will be faced with catastrophe. Millions more Americans will lose their jobs. Home will be lost. Families will go without health care. Our crippling dependence on foreign oil will continue. That is the price of inaction.
This isn’t some abstract debate. Last week, we learned that many of America’s largest corporations are planning to layoff tens off tens of thousands of workers. Today, we learned that last week, the number of new unemployment claims jumped to 626,000. And tomorrow, we’re expecting another dismal jobs report on top of the 2.6 million jobs we lost last year.
We can’t embrace the losing formula that offers more tax cuts as the only answer to every problem we face, while ignoring critical challenges like our addiction to foreign oil, the soaring cost of health care, failing schools and crumbling bridges, roads and levees. I don’t care whether you’re driving a hybrid or an SUV – if you’re headed for a cliff, you have to change direction.
This plan will save or create over three million jobs – almost all of them in the private sector.
This plan will put people to work rebuilding our crumbling roads and bridges; our dangerously deficient dams and levees.
This plan will put people to work modernizing our health care system, not only saving us billions of dollars, but countless lives.
This plan will put people to work renovating more than 10,000 schools, giving millions of children the chance to learn in 21st century classrooms, libraries, and labs – and to all the scientists in the room today, you know what that means for America’s future.

According to the CBO, 64% of the package will be spent in 2009 and 2010. Well, that's not terrible I guess...but wait, a significant chunk of that is the stupid $500 tax credits that people probably won't even spend.
After the tax credits are backed out, only half (52%) of the money in the plan will be put to work over the next two years, supposedly 15% in 2009 and 37% in 2010.
The CBO said that provisions to increase energy efficiency and renewable energy use would ultimately be spent within seven years. It also estimated that would take five years to spend 85% of the money dedicated to highway and other infrastructure projects
The stimulus package is based off of the same theory as TARP: spend the money, it doesn't matter where and it will work its way into the system. Its a nice theory but a solution in the billions wont fix a problem in the trillions. especially if its released slowly and in a money sucking, not moving fashion.
President Obama misleads us with these comments during his speech.
Finally, this plan will begin to end the tyranny of oil in our time. It doubles our capacity to generate alternative sources of energy like wind, solar, and biofuels in three years. It saves taxpayers billions of dollars by making federal buildings more energy efficient, and it saves the average working family hundreds on their energy bills. After decades of empty rhetoric, that is the down payment that we need on energy independence.
The American Wind Energy Association comes to a different conclusion.
In May, the U.S. Department of Energy reported that wind could provide 20% of U.S. electricity by 2030, supporting 500,000 jobs and reducing greenhouse gas emissions as much as taking 140 million vehicles off the road, and saving 4 trillion gallons of water (a 40-year supply for the city of Phoenix).
That is 2030, not 2012.
"Barack Obama and Joe Biden will ensure that 10% of our electricity comes from renewable sources by 2012 and 25% by 2025." -- Obama-Biden New Energy for America Plan
The U.S. Department of Energy states 2030 while President Obama states 2025. President Obama claims he will double our capacity by 2012. By his own figures it will only add 5% to the energy equation. While it is a step in the right direction it is not the panacea he would like all of us to swallow.

Obamessiah Giveth and Obamessiah Taketh Away
The House Rules Committee has released its version of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. From the time I posted the text found on ReadTheStimulus.org until now the ver(gar)bage has increased from 334 pages to an astounding 647 pages.
SEC. 1110. USE OF AMERICAN IRON AND STEEL reads (a) IN GENERAL.—None of the funds appropriated or otherwise made available by this Act may be used for a project for the construction, alteration, maintenance, or repair of a public building or public work unless all of the iron and steel used in the project is produced in the United States.
No sooner does one finish reading that section when it is followed by typical Washington balderdash (b) EXCEPTIONS.—Subsection (a) shall not apply in any case in which the head of the Federal department or agency involved finds that—(1) applying subsection (a) would be inconsistent with the public interest;
Gort has posted Chris Carney's vote on the bailout. Carney wants accountability and is not satisfied with it. As I posted before the accountability in this bill cost $3,000,000 per person for oversight. Like Paul Harvey would say- Page 26. Oh, the money, page 27.
